We aim to respond within one business day. If your question is urgent (account locked, safety concern, or something is clearly broken for a lot of people), please put “URGENT” in the subject line and we’ll prioritize it.

Common Questions

I’m not receiving push notifications on my phone.

First, check that notifications are turned on in two places:

  1. In iOS Settings → Kindred → Notifications, make sure “Allow Notifications” is on.
  2. Inside Kindred, open Settings and check that notifications are enabled for the event types you care about (new connection requests, new messages).

If both are on and you’re still not seeing notifications within a few minutes of another family reaching out, email us and we’ll take a look at your account.

I sent a connection request but haven’t heard back.

Kindred notifies the other family right away, but families log in on their own schedule and it can take a few days for someone to see and respond. We don’t send reminders. If you’d like, you can send a message along with your connection request to introduce your family.

How do I update my family profile or children’s info?

Open the app and tap Profile. From there you can edit your family details, children’s info, location, and what you’re looking for in a community. Changes take effect immediately.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes your family profile, children’s records, connections, messages, profile photo, and notification preferences. If you’d prefer we delete your account for you, email hello@kindredfamilies.app and we’ll take care of it within 30 days.

I can’t log in.

Use the “Forgot password” link on the login screen to reset your password. The reset email usually arrives within a minute — if it doesn’t, check your spam folder. If you’re still stuck, email us the address on your account and we’ll help you get back in.

How does matching work? Why am I seeing these families?

Kindred compares families on shared faith, homeschool approach, values, children’s ages, cultural heritage, lifestyle preferences, and geographic distance. Families closer to you and with more overlap with your profile tend to appear higher in your matches. For more detail, see our privacy policy.

I saw something inappropriate or want to report a family.

Please email hello@kindredfamilies.app with the family’s display name and a short description of what happened. We take every report seriously and will respond within one business day. Kindred is a small, hand-moderated community and we want to keep it safe and kind.

Is Kindred free?

Yes, Kindred is free at launch. If we add paid features in the future, we’ll give plenty of notice and the core ability to find and connect with families will always have a free tier.

Can my teenager or child use Kindred?

Kindred accounts are for parents and guardians only. Children do not sign up or interact with the app directly. Parents may describe their children on the family profile so other families can see age and interest compatibility, but the children themselves are never users of the service.
