Eligibility

Kindred is intended for adults age 18 and older. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 18 years old. Children’s information added to family profiles must be entered by a parent or legal guardian.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and building your family profile. You may not create more than one account per family. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at hello@kindredfamilies.app.

How Kindred Works

Kindred connects Christian homeschool families based on shared values, denomination, education style, and proximity. You create a family profile, and Kindred scores compatibility with other families. You can send connection requests, and once a connection is accepted, exchange messages.

Your family profile (including your family name, location, denomination, homeschool style, values, children’s names and ages, and other profile details) is visible to all authenticated users. This is necessary for the discovery and matching features to function.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Kindred in good faith and for its intended purpose of connecting homeschool families. You agree not to:

• Provide false or misleading information in your profile
• Use Kindred to harass, threaten, or harm other users
• Send unsolicited commercial messages or spam through the messaging feature
• Attempt to scrape, harvest, or collect other users’ personal information
• Use Kindred for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to interfere with the operation of the app or circumvent its security measures
• Create accounts for the purpose of impersonating another family or individual
• Use the app to promote or sell products or services to other families

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Content You Provide

You retain ownership of the content you provide to Kindred, including your profile information, photos, and messages. By submitting content to Kindred, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate the app (for example, displaying your profile to other users and delivering your messages to connected families).

You are responsible for the content you post and the messages you send. Do not share content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.

Messaging

Messages sent through Kindred are private between the connected families. We store messages to deliver them and to support notification features (such as email digests). We do not monitor or read your messages, but we reserve the right to investigate reports of abuse or violations of these Terms.

Availability and Changes

Kindred is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times or without interruption. We may modify, update, or discontinue features of the app at any time.

We are a small team building this for our community, and while we work hard to keep things running, we cannot guarantee uptime or that the app will always function perfectly.

Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Account deletion is permanent and removes all of your data, including your family profile, children’s records, connections, messages, notification preferences, and profile photos. This action cannot be undone.

We may also terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kindred and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app. This includes, but is not limited to, any damages resulting from interactions with other users, loss of data, or interruption of service.

Kindred is a tool for discovering and connecting with other families. We do not conduct background checks on users, and we do not verify the accuracy of profile information. You are responsible for exercising your own judgment when interacting with other families, both online and in person.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kindred and its operators from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your use of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your interactions with other users.

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Kindred shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to resolve any disputes through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal action.

Children’s Information

Kindred does not collect information directly from children. All children’s information (names, birth years, gender, interests) is provided by parents or guardians as part of their family profile. By adding children’s information, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of those children and consent to their information being displayed to other authenticated Kindred users.

Intellectual Property

The Kindred name, logo, and branding are our property. You may not use our branding without written permission. The app’s design, code, and content (excluding user-provided content) are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. Continued use of Kindred after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
